Emily Nealon: Water is one of the world's most important resources as our world population grows and more people migrate to cities our resources are going to become limited. For this reason it's important to learn how to use our resources efficiently to make them go further. I'm really glad that i chose to study environmental engineering the environment is something that impacts everyone in the world and I wanted to have a career that allowed me to make a difference.
Caitlin Lambe: I think it's in all of our interests to care about what happens to the environment because it affects all of us. Personally, I care about what happens to the environment because I like to go outside and walk in the park, plant flowers, garden, and everything.I go on runs especially in the springtime.
Chris Bagdonas: I really want to preserve the environment because we only have one chance with Earth. Tf we make mistakes in this planet, you know, there are going to be irreversible changes and in the environment. You know, we all love to do things out there. For me personally, I love to exercise I love to go on walks outside whenever I can and I really just love breathing in fresh air. Especially in a college dorm you can get tired of being inside all the time and having chance on a campus like ours, just to go outside and enjoy the weather, enjoy the beautiful scenery, is really a privilege and you should not forget that.
Emily Nealon: One thing that I like to do outside is run. This is something that I picked up during Covid as a way to get some fresh air and get out of the house. Another thing that I like to do outside is go on hikes and one time I went through the country on a road trip and I was able to go to a lot of the national parks and do hikes there which I thought was something really beautiful and something that should be preserved. One way the waste water industry is recovering resources is through applying new technologies at the treatment plants or resource recovery facilities the new technologies include creating natural gas or fertilizer from the incoming wastewater. One major impact of climate change is coastal flooding. A way that engineers are responding to coastal flooding is by building sea walls around cities and coastal areas.
Director Westphal: We're doing a terrible job of changing the way we live to prevent the temperature from rising to the point that disruption is ridiculous but it won't be fatal if we do the things we need to do over the next say 20 years.
Chris Bagdonas: I really think we do need more a whole effort across the entire campus. You know, students, faculty, anyone, could get involved when it comes to fixing and healing our environment because, you know, there is a lot of dangerous potential we keep on this track.
Emily Nealon: Some things that I do to preserve the environment include using reusable water bottles and shopping bags taking shorter showers eating less meat and recycling.
Caitlin Lambe: be eco-friendly by using reusable water bottles recycling
Catherine Cusack: use public transportation, turn off the lights when i leave the room.
Chris Bagdonas: The world cannot be your trash can. That's not what we were raised to do as human beings with a conscience and good will towards other people. It's not that hard to find a recycling bin.
Megan Heffernan: I used to see a lot of garbage on campus from the brown paper bags from the dining hall and now campus has implemented the use of reusable bags so there's less garbage around campus and I feel like this is a great change for the environment.
Chris Bagdonas: People talk about all sorts of different issues today in the world of politics and everything with covid and whatnot, but I really would like to see more activity when it comes to our environment and people being active for causes like that.
Megan Heffernan: I feel like our age group is very influential and able to make a big difference by working together i feel like we can save the planet.
Caitlin Lambe: I think our generation is extremely influential through our use of social media to spread awareness create and sign petitions and start go fund me and to overall just like build awareness to uh peak the interest of local officials or people in government so that we can create change. Effective change- to our environment.
Emily Nealon: so what can you do to help?
Caitlin Lambe: so what can you do to help?
Chris Bagdonas: so what can you do?
Megan Heffernan: are you going to help?
Catherine Cusack: are you going to help?
